From 1 April 2026, the New Zealand government has introduced a new Low Value Goods Levy. This replaces existing customs transaction fees to cover the cost of processing international parcels.
The levy applies to items worth $1,000 NZD (£440) or less and parcels that enter or leave New Zealand. This includes packages and documents.
$2.21 NZD + 15% GST (Goods and Services Tax) will be added to every item that meets these rules for entering New Zealand. Your recipient will be notified to request payment, if applicable.
