Leading the way

As a responsible carrier, we’ve always recognised our impact on the environment and believe in doing the right thing for our people.

Now, after a period of dramatic growth for the business, which has seen us delivering over 800 million parcels a year, we’re doubling down on our focus and affirming our position as ESG leaders.

Our Journey

There’s been a significant gear change in our efforts to become an even more ethical and sustainably conscious business.

As we move towards our net zero carbon emissions target, which we aim to hit by 2035, ESG forms two of the four core pillars that underpin the Evri brand.

Firstly, there’s community. Couriers and ParcelShops have always been a key part of our operation and play a vital role in the diverse, dynamic communities we serve across the UK.

Secondly, there’s sustainability itself. We’re growing the biggest sustainable fleet in the industry thanks to our ongoing investment in technology and exploration of alternative fuels.

We know it will be a long journey, but we’re firmly on the right road as we look to deliver a better future for the planet and people – our colleagues, customers and retail partners, and our wider communities.

ESG strategy

ESG is a core lever in the business’ ambitious transformation programme.

Just ahead of the rebrand from Hermes UK to Evri in March 2022, we launched a comprehensive, wide-reaching ESG strategy.

As the biggest dedicated parcel delivery company in the UK, we’ve always been a responsible carrier. Over the last 12 months we have seen an even deeper focus in this area as we seek to reduce our impact on the planet, promote equality and fairness – for our people as well as our customers and clients – and increase transparency throughout our operation, from boardroom to delivery unit.

In terms of environment and sustainability, we have set two key targets:

  • To reach net zero in direct and indirect emissions by 2035.
  • To reduce building energy consumption by 20% per sq ft by 2030.

What does our strategy look like in practice?
