More on Pan de muerto
Description from Wikipedia:
The pan de muertos (Spanish for Bread of the Dead or Day of the Dead Bread) is a type of bread from Mexico baked during July, August, September and October for the Día de los Muertos season, around two weeks over October and November. The official holiday is celebrated on November 2, but may be eaten during Halloween too. It is a soft bread shaped like a bun with bone like pieces.
The classic recipe for Pan de Muertos is a simple sweet bread recipe with the addition of anise seeds. Numerous recipes, however, also involve the introduction of fruit juice (usually orange). There are two ways to make this addition: the first involves adding a concentrated flavoring. The second involves substituting.
Recently, chocolate covered and chocolate baked versions (along with sugared) have appeared in Wal-Mart stores, where small (6 pieces), medium and large sizes are available.
