The T-Mobile G1 (previously known as the HTC Dream) is an Internet-enabled smartphone designed by High Tech Computer Corporation of Taiwan. The G1 will be the first phone to the market that will use the Android mobile device platform . The phone is part of an open standards effort of the Open Handset Alliance.
It was released for pre-order through T-Mobile on September 23, 2008, and planned for availability in stores on October 22, 2008 in the US. It is scheduled to be released in Europe (at least the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Czech Republic) in early 2009. It is priced starting at $179 for existing T-Mobile customers if purchased with a two-year T-Mobile voice and data plan, and $399 without a contract. G1 comes in three colors – brown, black and white.
