Some words are clearly from french origin: pirogue, fillet, "cher ami" for dear friend. Gumbo comes from Angola (Africa) as the suffix "oh". Not forget "Jambalaya" a famous dish originated from "Paella": rice and sea fruits. Modern Jambalaya includes jam as important ingredient. This is not true. I think we have to discuss some modern concepts on gastronomy.
"Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" is a song credited to American country music singer Hank Williams that was first released in 1952. Named for a Creole and Cajun dish, jambalaya, it spawned numerous cover versions and has since achieved popularity in a number of music genres.
