The Corribee is a well known model of sailing yacht, renowned for its sea keeping ability and its great performance. It was chosen by Ellen MacArthur to sail around Britain and more recently by Katie Miller, Johnny Moore and Jack Dally.
The boat has also been known to make longer voyages across the Atlantic Ocean by Sir Allen Toone and more recently Roger Taylor. The Corribee is a very popular model, with a large following, its own website and a very active discussion group on Yahoo.
Today a Corribee can be bought for £1000 to £5000 and, although they stopped production in the 1980s, it still meets modern standards.
A number of different models were made:
* Wooden, clinkerbuilt construction - the first to be built.
* Mark 1 - still a common site, recognisable by the timber cockpit coamings.
* Mark 2, early - grp superstructure moulding.
* Mark 2, late - similar, but more headroom in the cabin.
* Mark 3 - similar again, some small changes to the deck moulding.
* Corribee, junk rigged - the same superstructure as the standard Corribee.
* Coromandel - junk rigged, but with a different cabin moulding.
