EVRI INTRODUCES FEATURE AT DEMO 09 THAT APPLIES SOCIAL MEDIA TO THE SEMANTIC WEB
PALM DESERT, Calif., March 2 Evri (www.evri.com), a technology company focused on helping users discover and engage with Web content, is debuting a beta of its new Collections feature at DEMO 09 on Tuesday, March 3, which allows users to create a personalized Evri experience to track specific topics, people or entities they are interested in from across the Web.
Evri’s Collections feature represents the first example of applying social media to the semantic Web. By selecting entities to “follow” from Evri’s profile pages, users build Collections around the topics they’re interested in–such as all of the contestants and judges on the current season of American Idol, or the members of President Obama’s Cabinet. These dynamic Collections can also be annotated, shared and discovered by others, on Evri and around the Web. Examples can be found at (http://evri.com/users/Evri/collections/evri_obama%27s-cabinet).
In addition to demoing Evri’s Collections feature, Evri’s CEO, Neil Roseman, will provide an overview of the core technology Evri Collections are built on, announce the Evri Developer APIs, and preview the Evri Browser Toolbar, which lets users take Evri with them to make every web page more engaging to read (Download the Toolbar for Firefox or IE at (http://www.evri.com/toolbar).
“It’s an honor to be involved in DEMO and to have this opportunity to show Evri to such a bright and dedicated group of innovators,” said Neil Roseman, CEO of Evri. “We’ve been very excited and pleased with the levels of user engagement generated by our related content applications and Evri.com Profile pages. Our new Collections feature extends that to personal dimension, allowing users to “follow” topics of general interest in the familiar way that they already track their friends’ feeds and status updates on services like FriendFeed, Twitter and FaceBook.”
Evri also recently announced distribution of its Content Recommendation Widget on all washingtonpost.com article pages. For more information and screenshots, please visit the Evri blog at (http://blog.evri.com/).
