Description from Wikipedia:
Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado (born 6 April 1963) is the President of the Republic of Ecuador and a self-described "humanist and Christian of the left". He led Ecuador to join the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas in June 2009.
An economist educated in Ecuador, Belgium and United States, he briefly served as Finance Minister in 2005. He was elected President in late 2006 and took office in January 2007. In December 2008, he repudiated Ecuador's national debt as being an 'odious debt' —illegitimate because it was contracted by military regimes— and pledged to fight creditors in international courts.
Correa was re-elected to a second term as President in April 2009 and was sworn in on 10 August 2009.
He is the current President pro tempore of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).
