He has a long career directing pop videos for famous Spanish musical groups as OBK, Camela or Ella baila sola and also directing commercials, for which he has regularly won awards. He directed two shorts which have won prizes at several festivals, Mis vacaciones (1999) and El hombre esponja (2002). El Orfanato is his first full-length film.
