More on Johannes Moser
Description from Wikipedia:
Johannes Moser is a German-born cellist.
He came to international attention in 2002 when he won the 12th Tchaikovsky Competition and was awarded the Special Prize for his interpretation of the Rococo Variations. Since then Moser has performed with many of the highest level orchestras in Europe and throughout the world. He gave his American debut in 2005 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Pierre Boulez and was greeted with standing ovations. Other highlights included performances with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin, SWR Stuttgart and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under conductors like Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Krzysztof Penderecki, Paavo and Neeme Jarvi. His most recent success came in 2007 with the Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser-Möst at the Blossom Festival, where the Cleveland Plain Dealer described Johannes as having “played with agile brilliance and vast expressive character.”
He has also performed at many festivals including the Verbier Festival, Schleswig-Hostein Festival, Kissinger Summer Festival, Gstaad Festival, and the Rheingau Music Festival.
In the 2007/08 season, Johannes continued with a busy recital schedule and performances with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Malmo Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the LA Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel, as well as various recording sessions and CD releases.
In September 2009, Johannes will give his debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra under Mariss Jansons in Amsterdam and Bucharest.
Born in Munich in 1979 into a family of musicians, Johannes began studying the cello at the age of 8 and became a student of Professor David Geringas in 1997. He won first prize in the 2000 Davidoff Competition in Riga and the 2001 Mendelssohn competition in Berlin.
