A time trial specialist, he has been two time World Time Trial Champion and is the current Olympic gold medalist. He is also a winner of Paris-Roubaix, Milan-Sanremo, Tirreno-Adriatico, Monte Paschi Eroica, and three prologues of the Tour de France.
