Daniel Gross is an American journalist, and writes for Slate's "Moneybox" column, for the New York Times's "Economic View" column. Since 2007 Gross is a senior editor at Newsweek, where he writes the "Contrary Indicator" column. He attended Cornell University and holds an A.M. in American history from Harvard University. He is the author of four books: Forbes Greatest Business Stories of All Time (Wiley, 1996); Bull Run: Wall Street, the Democrats, and the New Politics of Personal Finance (PublicAffairs, 2000); Generations of Corning: 150 Years in the Life of a Global Corporation, 1851-2001 (Oxford University Press, 2001), co-authored with Davis Dyer; and Pop!: Why Bubbles Are Great For The Economy (Collins, 2007). He has no formal education, training or experience in economics or finance.
