More on Brendan O'Brien
Description from Wikipedia:
Brendan O'Brien (born June 30, 1960, Atlanta, Georgia) is a record producer, engineer and mixer who has worked with many prominent artists. He is generally thought of as one of the more important music producers of the 1990s. He also played a Hammond organ for Bob Dylan's appearance on MTV Unplugged.
By the age of 14 he was the guitarist for Pranks, playing clubs in one of the best cover bands in Atlanta. In the late 70's he moved on to writing, performing and recording with the Samurai Catfish band, his producing skills already evident in that band’s demo recordings. In the 1980’s following the breakup of the Catfish he worked in the studio with many local artists including the Indigo Girls and The Downtown Executives, and even played bass with The Georgia Satellites for a short time. His studio career was really launched by the success of the first Black Crowes album which he engineered and played guitar and bass. He subsequently went on to head the Epic Records imprint 57 Records, as well as a premier Atlanta recording studio, Southern Tracks.
He can be seen in the music video for grunge rock band Soundgarden's 1994 video "Fell on Black Days" from their #1 album Superunknown.
11 of the albums he produced reached #1 in America.
