Het format werd aangekocht van het Belgische productiehuis Shelter dat de show ook bedacht. Het originele programma heet Benidorm Bastards en werd de eerste keer uitgezonden op de Vlaamse zender 2be. De Amerikaanse versie heeft een presentatrice (Betty White) in tegenstelling tot het origineel. De Amerikanen gebruiken professionele HD-camera's. In België maakten de makers gebruik van een handycam. Dit is niet het eerste Belgische tv-programma op Amerikaanse tv. De Mol (The Mole) en Peking Express (Amazing Race) gingen Benidorm Bastards voor. ---- The show premiered on NBC on Monday January 16th. This is an NBC promo. The show originated in Belgium and is called "Benidorm Bastards" over there. It was broadcasted for the first time on Belgian TV-station 2be. (www.2be.be) The original Belgian show didn't have a show host. Benidorm Bastards was also filmed with a handycam and not in HD like Off Their Rockers. This is not the first Belgian Show on American televison. The Mole and Amazing Race are also Belgian formats.
