The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Affairs (DRL) at the United States Department of State is one of four bureaus that comprise the Office of the Under Secretary for Global Affairs. The other three are:
*Bureau of Consular Affairs
*Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs
*Commercial and Business Affairs
DRL's responsibilities include promoting democracy around the world, formulating U.S. human rights policies, and coordinating policy in human rights-related labor issues.
The Bureau is responsible for producing annual reports on the countries of the world with regard to religious freedom and human rights.
It also administers the U.S. Human Rights and Democracy Fund.
The bureau is currently led by Assistant Secretary David J. Kramer, who previously served as deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs.
