Faraday was introduced in the season 4 premiere, and is part of the team aboard the Kahana. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse called Daniel Faraday "an obvious shout-out to Michael Faraday, scientist and physicist". Faraday was originally planned to be a recurring role.
