Evri Group invest over £4m to expand fulfilment network in Barnsley

- Evri Group invests over £4m in new Barnsley fulfilment centre
- New 265,000 sq ft site designed to support next day demand and growth of SMEs
- More than 150 jobs to be created in the community, which follows Barnsley becoming UK’s first ‘Tech Town’
Evri Group, the UK’s premier parcel delivery company, has today announced the launch of a brand new 265,000 sq ft fulfilment centre in Barnsley, following an investment of over £4m into the site.
This new Barnsley opening marks the latest milestone in Evri’s rapidly expanding fulfilment operation, which has seen sustained double-digit year-on-year growth since its launch in 2021.
Located less than 100 metres from Evri’s existing Barnsley hub, the new facility will enable parcels to be injected directly into its largest operational site every hour, facilitating seamless integration into Evri’s national and international network to unlock faster delivery options for all retailers.
Evri received the keys to the site on 18th March, beginning an immediate fit-out of the space, which will launch in July 2026 and include cutting-edge sorting and packing automation, allowing parcels to move from order stage to pick, pack and entrance to the delivery network within an hour.
A key feature of the new site is its 11.59pm order cut-off time for next-day delivery – a significant extension that allows thousands of small and medium-sized businesses to get their goods to their customers as fast as the nation’s biggest brands.
The facility also provides same-day dispatch, seven days a week, as well as support for Amazon Prime distribution and global scaling capabilities for bedroom CEOs looking to grow internationally.
The announcement follows the success of Evri’s first fulfilment centre in Basildon, as well as additional sites on the US East Coast, the Netherlands and Oman, cementing its position as a global fulfilment solution for retailers of all sizes.
Following the recent announcement that Barnsley has been recognised as the UK’s first ‘Tech Town’, reflecting the town’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and inward investment, Evri’s new fulfilment site builds on this momentum in supporting local growth, with over 150 new job roles created as a direct result.
The launch of this purpose-built fulfilment facility, designed to meet the needs of the shopper of today and tomorrow, will bring exciting opportunities to some of the UK most loved brands as well as our country’s deep reservoir of small and medium size companies. We’ve paired cutting edge fulfilment technology with a direct connection to the Evri Group’s well established and fast growing domestic and international networks, meaning whatever the business need, we have a solution.
David Saenz, Chief Commercial Officer at Evri Group
The Evri team has been an ideal partner as we grow, and we’re very excited with the new warehouse. Being able to order at midnight, have the package in the Evri network within an hour and be delivered next day will be amazing for our customers.
