Evri and Scope back the future of charity shops: opening up 12,500 locations for donation drop-offs and UK-first locker

  • Evri and Scope are working together to future-proof charity retail
  • A new way for Scope to secure donated stock by post – completely free of charge – at over 12,500 Evri ParcelShops and Lockers
  • UK-first parcel locker to be installed in a charity shop
  • Evri’s fundraising for Scope reaches £200,000 milestone

As charity retailers face growing pressure to secure stock and maintain their presence on UK high streets, Evri and disability equality charity Scope have launched a series of new initiatives designed to make donating easier than ever. The partnership includes a nationwide donation-by-post service available through more than 12,500 Evri ParcelShops and Lockers, alongside what is believed to be the UK's first parcel locker installed inside a charity shop.

Following a successful trial last year, Evri and Scope have relaunched a nationwide donation-by-post campaign, making it easier for people to donate items without visiting a store.

In a further boost for charity retail, Evri will install what is believed to be the UK's first parcel locker inside a charity shop at Scope's Doncaster store. The locker is designed to increase footfall, create additional reasons for customers to visit the store and demonstrate how charity retailers can benefit from innovations increasingly seen across the wider retail sector.

Consumers can send pre-loved items directly to Scope free of charge via more than 12,500 Evri ParcelShops and lockers across the UK, including locations such as Post Office branches, Asda stores and thousands of brand new Evri lockers.

Research shows that 46% of people are more likely to donate to charity if they can use parcel lockers, underlining the potential to unlock more donations by providing the public with choice.

Donating is quick and easy:

  1. Visit Evri.com/Scope to create a free parcel label
  2. Package items using Evri’s guidance
  3. Print the label and drop off at a ParcelShop or locker

Items are then processed and distributed into Scope’s retail network, where they are sold to raise thousands of pounds in funds for the charity’s vital work. Charity shops continue to play an important role in local communities, providing affordable goods, supporting sustainable shopping habits and generating income for important causes. By combining digital donation channels with accessible physical locations, Evri and Scope hope to make giving easier for a new generation of donors.

There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, and Scope provides essential support through services including its free helpline, which offers advice and guidance. With each call costing an average of £15, donations play a crucial role in keeping these services running.

Evri and Scope’s partnership has already raised £200,000, with both organisations committed to growing this further through innovation in both retail and donation channels.

The partnership also reflects Evri’s wider commitment to accessibility – the only parcel company to have made a public commitment to supporting Scope, and championing accessibility. Customers can set their accessibility preferences via Evri’s website or app, helping ensure deliveries meet individual needs.

By combining high street presence with digital convenience, Evri and Scope are working towards a more flexible, inclusive model for charity retail - one that supports communities, diversifies income and makes giving easier than ever.

Charity shops are an important part of our high streets and communities, but like all retailers they need new ways to attract stock and engage supporters. Through our partnership with Scope we're making donating easier than ever, whether that's through free drop-offs at more than 12,500 locations nationwide or the UK's first charity shop parcel locker. By combining convenience, accessibility and innovation, we're helping more pre-loved items find a second life while supporting Scope's vital work for disabled people.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Scope. Evri has been so generous with their fundraising and these new developments are set to help us raise even more funds. The impact of this will be so far-reaching. Every pound we raise can help fund a minute’s call on our free helpline with the average call lasting 15 minutes. Disabled people can receive expert guidance and advice, so your quality donations are vital. Their vast network of drop off locations means so many more people have the opportunity to donate to Scope at a time and location convenient to them, 24 hours a day. It also means Evri’s customers have an opportunity to help us remove the barriers disabled people face, every day. Life costs more for disabled people, who need an extra £1,095 each month on average, just to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households. As prices are ramping up across the board, many are finding themselves pushed to the brink and are contacting our free helpline for vital support and guidance. We know donating money isn’t always possible. But giving good-quality clothes through Evri is free and easy. It’s a simple way to clear out your wardrobe and help us to break down barriers and create a fairer society with disabled people.
