A typical day for a Cat C driver at Evri

"My typical day starts at 6am. I’ll then get in my vehicle and do my checks. I load up my vehicle with parcels and start my driving duties for the day. Daily tasks range from Warehouse Depot deliveries, collecting stock from our customers and dropping parcel collections in more remote countryside locations. My day usually ends with a nice 2:30pm finish.

Being a Class 2 driver has massively improved my quality of life, in so many ways. I’m able to finish at a good time, I have less stress due to a more predictable workload and I feel fulfilled with having, what to me, feels like a proper career."

A typical day for a Cat C+E Driver at Evri

“A typical day would include completing my vehicle checks, as a Cat C + E driver I tend to drive our longer routes, ensuring the safe, efficient driving of vehicles from the warehouse to our clients and other sites in the EVRi. I ensure all parcels are collected and delivered safely. There can be some paperwork to update and I may be required to assist the warehouse staff with loading items from time to time. I keep the Transport Manager updated with any problems on the roads and they can help find an alternative routes if necessary.

I tend to work on shifts which could involve a night shift or a day shift. Our shift patterns tend to include any 5 shifts out of 7, which could include some weekend work but rotas are given in advance.”
