Hermes UK, the consumer delivery specialist based in Morley, Yorkshire, is celebrating after winning a national award. The company triumphed in the Operational & Compliance Excellence category at the 2014 Motor Transport Awards, held in London on Wednesday night.

The award is designed to recognise a company that manages the balancing act of running a profitable, safe, legal and efficient fleet of vehicles. The judging panel said it was impressed by how “Hermes is managing such dynamic growth and simultaneously driving up operational standards and compliance”.

Over the past year, Hermes has invested in its infrastructure, including the opening of a new fully automated hub in Warrington, growing its network of myHermes ParcelShops, and increasing its number of couriers. At the same time, the company improved its operational and compliance scores, as well as driving up its on-time delivery performance. Hermes was also praised for its in-house driving school, which gives employees the opportunity to develop their skill-set.

"We are thrilled that Hermes has been recognised by the Motor Transport Awards. Over the past year we have invested heavily in order to future-proof our business. As a result we have been rewarded with an increase in parcel volumes and improved service levels. The team works extremely hard to ensure that our growing fleet of vehicles remain compliant at all times and they are very deserving of this award. "
