More on Google Chrome OS
Description from Wikipedia:
The Google Chrome Operating System is a project run by Google to develop a web-based computer operating system. Announced on July 7th, 2009, it is based on Google's Chrome web browser and the Linux operating system kernel. It will initially be targeted at netbooks, and is set to be released during the second half of 2010. It will run on systems with either x86 or ARM processors.
Google has stated that the Google Chrome OS project will be open sourced by the end of 2009. Although it is based on the Linux kernel, it will use "a new windowing system" rather than the standard X Window System used on most desktop Linux distributions. Google plans to enlist the help of the open source community to help in the development of the project.
Google has stated that it is currently working with its partners to ensure the Chrome OS will be available to consumers by the second half of 2010.
