"A Thousand Miles" is a pop song written by American singer Vanessa Carlton and recorded for her 2002 debut album Be Not Nobody. It was co-produced and co-arranged by Carlton and Ron Fair, and was released as the album's first single in 2002. It became Carlton's breakthrough hit and one of the most popular songs of the year. The song is her signature song.
The song was most successful in Australia where it reached number one, and it reached the top five in the United States and Ireland, and the top ten in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and The Netherlands. It has also been covered by actress Victoria Justice, sampled by rapper T.I. for the song "It's All Real," and singer-songwriter David Archuleta.
