EVRI NAMES WILL HUNSINGER CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
SEATTLE, WA, July 8, 2009 - Will Hunsinger today was named chief executive officer of Evri (www.evri.com), a technology company focused on helping people discover and engage with Web content. Current CEO Neil Roseman will be working closely with Hunsinger on the transition as the company enters an important new phase of growth and expansion of partner relationships.
An Internet veteran, Hunsinger brings a deep knowledge of consumer Web marketing and product management to Evri. Hunsinger, former CEO of Adeze, an interactive advertising platform, has recently been an entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR) at Maveron LLC, a venture capital firm based in Seattle. Prior to Adeze, Hunsinger was vice president and general manager of Gap Online and VP of product management for Gap’s Direct Division. He managed Gap Online’s business operations, business development and product management. He also served as senior director of strategy and new business development for Overture Services prior to its acquisition by Yahoo! and as vice president of business development and product management at Business.com. Hunsinger began his career at Andersen Consulting, now Accenture, and graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Neil Roseman joined Evri as CEO from Amazon in July 2007. Over the last two years, Roseman has played a pivotal role in building a world-class development team and product platform, including the acquisition of semantic search technology and intellectual property from Insightful Corporation. Under Roseman’s leadership, Evri has commercialized its industry-leading semantic Web technologies into a suite of consumer products, including its 2 million Evri.com profile pages, Evri Collections, Evri publisher widgets, and the Evri browser toolbar. Additionally, Roseman concluded key partnerships with The Washington Post, the Times of London, and a number of other publisher partners utilizing Evri’s API platform for driving increased customer engagement. Roseman, who will be leaving the company, will remain actively involved with the company’s advisory board and will be working closely with Vulcan Capital as an entrepreneur-in-residence where he plans to pursue new early-stage consumer Web opportunities.
Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder, technology innovator, and philanthropist who also serves as Evri’s chairman, said, “We are very excited to welcome Will Hunsinger to join this great team as CEO. Will’s experience in marketing and business development will help us take our great products to the next level, showing consumers the power of Evri and building more partnerships with the Web’s leading information sources.”
Will Hunsinger said, “I quickly recognized Evri’s potential to redefine how consumers discover, interact with, and share Web content. Evri has a clear technology lead in the field of semantic, natural language understanding of Web content and has proven it can apply this technology to build great products that operate at Web scale. I am looking forward to joining this talented team and helping drive the company toward continued success.”
Steve Hall, managing director of Vulcan Capital and Evri board member, said, “Neil has done a fantastic job as an early-stage CEO bringing Evri’s product vision to market and setting the stage for broader platform integration with a range of partner companies. We are excited to have Neil work closely with the company through this transition and to maintain his involvement with Vulcan as an EIR.”
Roseman stated, “With over 20 million monthly user impressions occurring across the Evri platform, we have reached a firm foundation of product traction and are well poised for this next phase of growth. I look forward to working with Will and the team through this transition and have great confidence in Will’s ability to expand Evri’s opportunities and platform proliferation over the coming years.”
