Tchad Blake (born in 1955) is an American record producer, engineer, mixer and musician.
He has worked with numerous artists and musicians, including State Radio, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, Pearl Jam, Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow, Travis, Crowded House, Finn Brothers, Bernard Fanning, Los Lobos, The Bad Plus, Sam Phillips, Suzanne Vega, Stina Nordenstam, Phish, Bonnie Raitt, Lisa Germano, Al Green, Tracy Chapman, Phantom Planet, Gomez, The Dandy Warhols, American Music Club, Cibo Matto, Haley Bonar, David Rhodes and Soul Coughing, among others.
He often partners with Mitchell Froom, with whom David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos formed Latin Playboys.
Blake is noted for creating original and at times awkward sonic textures (usually with unorthodox gear), constantly shifting mixes, and use of binaural recording.
