Description from Wikipedia:
Nick Licata is a past president of the Seattle City Council. His aides , Newell Aldrich, Lisa Herbold, and Frank Video have worked for him since he took office in 1998.
As of September 2004 he is chair of the Public Safety, Civil Rights & Arts Committee, vice chair of the Utilities & Technology Committee, and a member of the Finance & Budget Committee. Licata received his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1969 and his master's degree in sociology from the University of Washington in 1973.
Licata is one of the two City Council members who support rebuilding the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
In 2007, Licata focused much of his energy on preventing the approval of taxpayer support for a new events center/arena in King County that would keep the professional basketball team, the Seattle SuperSonics, in the area. Licata was Co-Chair of Citizens for More Important Things prior to being elected to the City Council. The group opposed excessive public funding of professional sports stadiums. It wrote King County Initiative 16 and collected over 73,000 signatures to get it validated.
