Niall McGinn (born 20th of July 1987 in Dungannon) is a football player currently playing for Derry City FC. He was signed by Derry manager Stephen Kenny in January 2008 whilst playing for Dungannon Swifts FC. This is the club with whom he rose through the youth ranks before being spotted by Stephen Kenny. A very promising young talent McGinn mainly plays on the left or right side of midfield but he can also be used as another striker. This has led to Niall being a feature in the Northern Ireland U-23 team.
In recent weeks he has attracted much cross-channel attention from clubs such as Ipswich however he has said that he is 'happy with Derry and wants to stay and improve himself as a player and improve his fitness levels.'
For all his efforts and skill shown in the 2007/08 season Niall is on course to recive an award at the end of the season.
In addition Niall also played GAA with Donaghmore and Tyrone U-21's before he decided to take on the professional contract at Derry City.
