John Jackson Sparkman (December 20, 1899–November 16, 1985) was an American politician from the state of Alabama. A conservative Southern Democrat, Sparkman served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate from 1937 until 1979. He was the Democratic Party's nominee for Vice President as Adlai E. Stevenson's running mate in the 1952 U.S. presidential election. Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama is named in his honor.
