"Idle Race ", the first LP ever produced by Lynne and a much tamer offering than its predecessor, flopped as well. In January 1970, Lynne accepted Wood's second offer to join the Move, on condition that they would retire the band and concentrate on a new venture, Electric Light Orchestra. Lynne made two albums ("Looking On" and "Message from the Country") and a handful of superb singles with the Move, including the first version of "Do Ya", as work on the first ELO album continued in the studio throughout 1970 and 1971.

McCartney admitted he was worried over Lynne being chosen as producer saying "He's such a pal of George's. They'd done the Wilburys, and I was expecting him to lead it that way. To tell you the truth, I thought that he and George might create a wedge, saying, 'We're doing it this way' and I'd be pushed out."

"George half-finished loads of songs and often simply forgot about them. He amassed an enormous amount of material in the last few years of his life and it"s likely there could be another album"s worth," the Daily Express quoted a source as saying. The source added: "Jeff and George were very close and worked together a lot in the later period of George"s life. It"s felt that he"s the right man to work on this material. They could have a real gem on their hands."

"Real Love". Co-producer Jeff Lynne said, ."..we thought, we'd work on 'Real Love' which had a complete set of words."(2000).

Years later Lynne admitted "To be in the same room as the four of them caused me not to sleep for, like, three days".

"Sons of the Beatles". Critics often compared Electric Light Orchestra to The Beatles and they were often criticized for "ripping off" the band. Lynne admitted that he "was very influenced by the Beatles' sound of '68 and '69.

In 2000, Jeff Lynne found a new impetus to work on the music of his old band and returned to the recording studio to work on an ELO project for the first time in some fifteen years just prior to the comeback Zoom " in 2001 resulting in a digitally remastered compilation released in late 2000.
