James Poyser is a Grammy Award winning songwriter, record producer, and keyboardist from Philadelphia, known for his R&B, hip-hop, gospel and pop productions. He has often written and produced for Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Common, The Roots, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, and has also written and produced for many other artists such as Mariah Carey, Raven-Symone, Queen Latifah, Talib Kweli, Mya, Musiq Soulchild, Rhian Benson, Vivian Green, Al Green and Ruben Studdard. He took home the Best R&B Song Grammy in 2003 for co-writing "Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip Hop)" (Erykah Badu + Common), and was also nominated for Best R&B Song in 2004 and 2005 for "Danger" (Erykah Badu) and "Mine Again"(Mariah Carey). He recently scored the film "Totally Awesome" and performed as the keyboardist in the films "Fade To Black" and "Dave Chappelle's Block Party". His songs have been featured in television shows and major motion picture soundtracks such as, "Chappelle Show", "Baby Boy", "The Wash", "The Fighting Temptations", and "Brown Sugar".
