"Fantastic Four" to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in "Wolverine," several high-profile castings of the last few years have begun online - and Jackie Earle Haley couldn't be happier. "The first I heard about it was people were suggesting me on the Internet for the part of Freddy. And I thought that was pretty cool," remembered Haley recently, speaking to MTV about his upcoming "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot while wearing the iconic red-and-green sweater. "I wasn't sure who they had talked to, or what was going on."

"Jackie is not big, and I think that Jackie's size is gonna really work for him as Freddy Krueger," said Englund. "Because I've always in my mindset imagined… one of the metaphors or one of the images I've used for Freddy is a little rabid dog that just bites your ankle and holds on. "

As much as I love Jackie Earle Haley (dude's performance in Little Children made me report him to Chris Hansen), I can't help but think, "You were in Bad News Bears! You don't scare me!"

Haley "was the only person we ever considered for the role," Fuller wrote, adding: "Come on, people, an Academy Award Nominated actor is playing Krueger.

"Nightmare" remake will take horror back to its roots. Which isn't to say that Freddy the jokester will be absent if the rebooted series continues forward. "He's not much of a comedian," Haley said. "But I'm working on my tap dancing lessons, just in case they do a sequel."

"We delve into Freddy's background a little bit more," Haley explained. "It's a very similar background to what we know about him, but... I think it's going to be a unique kind of homage to Wes's original film."
