Gil Kenan (born October 16, 1976 in London, England) is an Israeli-American film director. He received his MFA from UCLA in 2002. He directed the 2006 film Monster House, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis. He has been nominated for a 2006 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for his work on the film. He also wrote and directed a short, The Lark, which caught Zemeckis' attention and landed Kenan the director's chair for Monster House.
His latest film City of Ember was the Tom Hanks-produced adaption of Jeanne Duprau's 2003 novel The City of Ember. It was released in October 2008 to mixed reviews and poor box office results.
Gil Kenan will be directing the upcoming movie, Airman, based on the book by Eoin Colfer, author of Artemis Fowl and The Old Kingdom trilogy.
