Edward Michael Liddy (born January 28, 1946) was the chief executive officer of American International Group (AIG), where he succeeded Robert B. Willumstad in September, 2008.. As CEO of AIG, Liddy receives a salary of $1 and equity grants, though he may be "eligible for a special bonus for extraordinary performance payable in 2010." Liddy announced on Thursday, May 21, 2009, that he was resigning his position as CEO but would remain at his job until a replacement or replacements were named. However, on August 3 2009, Robert Benmosche is named CEO and Chairman of AIG.
Liddy is currently also on the boards of 3M and The Kroger Company.
He is also the former chairman, president and CEO of Allstate. Prior to Allstate, Mr. Liddy also held the position of chief financial officer of G. D. Searle & Company, where former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld held the CEO position. He has recently become a partner at private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, which he joined in 2008.
