"I got into the back of the 33 (Bowyer) and just tried to check up and let him get everything gathered up," said Harvick. "I just got in the gas a little bit sooner than he did, and I think the 26 (Jamie McMurray) got me from behind (sending Harvick into the wall after bouncing off Bowyer a second time)."

"It was cool," Bowyer said Tuesday while in Kansas City. "To be standing there in the White House talking to the President. what an honor to be able to go up to the big house and see the man. "You go from working in a body shop in Emporia and running modifieds at Lakeside Speedway to the White House is pretty wild."

"I think they've worked on it and gotten it better, but what's really cool about here is it's got character," said Austin Dillon, who after today will have as many career starts at Newton - four - as he does in the Nationwide Series. So does his Richard Childress Racing teammate, Stephen Leicht. "It seemed you needed to drive over it straight," said Leicht, who owns three top 10s in six Nationwide starts this season while splitting time with Sprint Cup regulars Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer.

"That's your hometown, and everybody wants a little piece of you whether it be family, friends or sponsors that have helped me through the years," Bowyer said.

"I think about that (his first start) every time we go there," said Bowyer.

"Shane (Wilson, the crew chief) made a call to short pit for fuel in order to make it to the end, and the cards fell in our favor and we were able to grab a seventh-place finish," said Bowyer. "Wish we could have had a better finish, but, all in all, it's a good result and another top-10 to add to our 2009 resume."

"Wish we could have had a better finish, but, all in all, it's a good result and another top-10 to add to our 2009 resume." Etc.: Bowyer is still looking for his first win of 2009 but said he is not putting any more pressure on himself to accomplish that goal as the season gets down to its last two races. "It's not any different than any other race," adds Bowyer. "I'm a racer; I want to win every time I'm on the track. But I understand everything has to be right to win one of these races."

"We struggled there in the spring (finishing 22nd), but I've run well there in the past," said Bowyer.
