Christine Callaghan Quinn (born July 25, 1966 in Glen Cove, New York) is a Democratic politician and the current Speaker of the New York City Council, which is among the most powerful positions in city government after the Mayor. Quinn is the first woman and first openly gay person to be elected to this position.
In 2007, the New York Post named Quinn the third-most powerful woman in New York, after Hillary Rodham Clinton and Diane Sawyer. She was rated one of the "Forty Under Forty" by Gotham Magazine.
