Bill Brady has served as 44th District Senator since May 2002. He served as State Representative for the 88th District from 1993 to 2001. During his tenure as a legislator, he has worked to increase education accountability and funding, and sponsored reforms of workers’ compensation and medical malpractice laws. He championed reforms in the state’s insurance and financial industries that became a national model, passed legislation to guarantee health insurance for retired teachers. He was the leading sponsor of a new law that promotes highway safety through more training for young drivers. Senator Brady has led the way in efforts to restore integrity to state government and to ensure the best use of the taxpayers’ dollars.
He is the ranking Republican for both the Senate Insurance Committee and the Senate Pensions and Investments Committee, and a member of the Senate Public Health Committee and the Senate Revenue Committee. He serves on the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability, is a member of ICHIP and IHSA; and served on the Illinois Commission on Pension Funding. However, he does not provide insurance to his own workers.
Bill Brady was born May 15, 1961, in Bloomington, Illinois. A graduate of Central Catholic High School and Illinois Wesleyan University, he is a businessman. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children, Katie, a nurse; William, at University of Dayton; and Duncan, at Central Catholic High School.
