More on Alan Davey
Description from Wikipedia:
Alan Davey (born 11 September 1963, in Ipswich, Suffolk) was the bass player in Hawkwind, Bedouin and is the bass player for The Meads of Asphodel. His latest bands are Gunslinger and Thunor. He is best known as the second longest serving member of Hawkwind, joining in 1984 and leaving in June 2007, having previously taken a break from the band between 1996 and 2000. In March 2007 he released the very well-received album "Human on the Outside".
He is now working on a variety of projects, including an album with former Hawkwind stalwart Simon House, which will also feature contributions from multi-instrumentalist Josh "Dreamspirit", and a CD EP of Arabic-flavoured material with former Hawkwind vocalist Bridget Wishart, again with contributions from Josh Dreamspirit and Kevin M. Sommers. Davey has joined Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Karl E. H. Seigfried to form Thunor, a group focusing on a mixture of British psychedelia and Chicago-style jazz and metal.
March 2008 saw the release of the debut album by Alan Davey's new band Gunslinger entitled "Earthquake in E Minor". Earthquake is the brainchild of Davey and his cousin Nigel Potter. The album features some of the material that the pair had written between 1979 and 1982 during the band's first inception.
A touring line-up of Davey (bass), James Tait (guitars) and Sunil Jolly (drums) took to the road in the UK in March 2008, with shows confirmed up to Christmas 2008.
Alan Davey, like many previous Hawkwind bassists (including Lemmy), uses a 4000-series Rickenbacker bass.
