More on Legendary Pictures
Description from Wikipedia:
Legendary Pictures is an American motion picture production company based in Burbank, California. The company has a 5-year, 25-picture agreement to co-produce and co-finance with Warner Bros., starting in 2005. Their contract with Warner Bros. expires in 2010. Legendary Pictures' first full-length feature with Warner Bros was the comic book movie, Batman Begins, soon followed by another comic book adaptation, Superman Returns.
Legendary Pictures is the first company of its kind to pair major motion picture product with major Wall Street private equity and hedge fund investors and was subsequently named Media/Entertainment Deal of the Year by IDD Magazine.
Legendary Pictures investors include ABRY Partners, AIG Direct Investments, Bank of America Capital Investors, Columbia Capital, Falcon Investment Advisors and M/C Venture Partners.
In 2008, their president & CEO, Thomas Tull, became a minority partner in the Pittsburgh Steelers, purchasing a minority stake in order to keep controlling ownership within the Rooney family. Tull acquired a 16% stake in the team as part of the deal, though the Rooney's will remain as primary owners.
In 2009, they announced they would be entering game development which surprised many gamers, because of Hollywood's previous disengagement with that industry.
