The European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) is an independent and non-profit policy research think tank dedicated to trade policy and other international economic policy issues of importance to Europe. It is based in Brussels and was founded in 2006 by economists Fredrik Erixon and Razeen Sally.
ECIPE publishes papers and books, and organizes conferences and seminars. It is a network-based organization with 10-15 affiliated scholars. Its secretariat in Brussels has residential and visiting scholars. ECIPE’s Steering Committee and Advisory Board is chaired by Professor Patrick Messerlin. Its stable of senior scholars and authors include, among others, Roderick Abbott, Andreas Freytag, Stuart Harbinson, Brian Hindley, and Peter Kleen.
Its research programme features special research projects on the World Trade Organization (WTO), EU-Asia commercial relations, trade in health care and emerging services, and several other topical themes with a political economy flavour.
