Cephalic Carnage is a grindcore/death metal band formed in Denver, Colorado in 1992. Cephalic Carnage usually plays different styles of metal, such as doom metal, experimental metal, sludge metal, death metal, grindcore and have dubbed themselves "Rocky Mountain Hydrogrind". The lyrical styles range from subjects on aliens (especially Greys), humor, and narcotic drugs to social and political issues. They have developed a reputation as a very intense live band and tour regularly throughout the United States and Europe. This, in addition to their palette of styles, has given them a considerably large fan base. Their first European show took place in Germany in summer of 2003 at the Fuck the Commerce festival and their first European tour followed in October of 2003. They are currently signed to Relapse Records and have released four albums on the label to date. Their latest studio effort, Xenosapien, was released in North America on May 29, 2007. They are currently on tour supporting Darkest Hour, alongside Emmure and Whitechapel.
